Spiritual Things

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

1 Corinthians 3:1-4

The Church is one of the most criticized institutions and oftentimes is accused of being the source of many people problems. Every since the Israelites deliverance from Egypt and their subsequent wilderness trek, the work of God has been under attack not only from opponents outside but also them who were on the inside.

The Church however, is not above its criticism. Some of the criticisms are indeed valid but some are not. For those of us who are on the inside asking the question, “What’s wrong with the Church?,” I offer this one response (this is only one of many that could be given).

The Church for the most part is CARNAL!

Most every criticism that you here about the Church either from within or without has to do with some CARNAL situation or circumstance.

When you speak spiritual things to carnal people, it gets interpreted from a carnal perspective. Remember, the natural man cannot receive spiritual things because to him they are foolishness.

Carnal men cannot eat meat because they are on a special diet of milk!

What is the milk? Envying, strife and divisions.
